“Housing Delivery through partnership”

The Govan Mbeki Housing awards is an annual event celebrated during the first week of October.  The purpose of the Govan Mbeki Awards is to encourage and motivate all stakeholders in the housing industry to harness the human and other resources in accelerating housing delivery to improve the lives of millions of poor South Africans.

The awards seeks to honour outstanding performance by the role players in the housing value chain, including developers, building contractors, the banking sector, community based organizations, the mining sector, building materials suppliers, professional associations that have committed to partner with government in building sustainable human settlements and making the millennium development goals achievable by 2014.

The competition will be contested according to (16) different categories.  The awards consist of two phases with the first one being Provincial and the second National.   The National phase will see overall winners in each category of the Provincial competition proceed to participate in the National awards.   The winners are then chosen for each category. 

Metropolitan Municipality and Provincial Housing Departments qualify automatically to participate at a National level.
