BNG TV SERIES (SEASON THREE) BACK ON THE SCREEN

 

 

Television series Breaking New Ground commissioned by the Department of Housing to educate and share progress with the nation on the implementation of the Housing Programme will kick start its third round on January 12, 2009.

 

The series, which boasts more than two million weekly viewers will continue to examine the implementation of the Government housing policy since 2004. The show will again focus on individuals who have used their housing opportunity to improve the quality of their own lives.

 

Breaking New Ground looks at the achievements of the Department of Housing and its many partners as they come together to implement the housing programme.The television show also highlights some of the challenges the new housing policy seeks to address.

 

The Head of Media Services at the Department of Housing, Ndivhuwo Mabaya, says the show provides a platform for an informed dialogue among all South Africans. “Through BNG TV Series we are sharing with all South Africans progress on the implementation of our housing plan. All South Africans can see that we are Breaking New Ground in housing delivery.

 

As South African’s we must be proud that we have created decent accommodation for more than 13 Million people over 14 years. On the on the BNG TV series you can see that delivery in action, and most importantly, you can see how this has made a difference in people’s lives. It is a very important way of communication that facilitates dialogue among all South Africans” Mabaya said.

 

Highlights of the show will include visits to all housing projects implemented since 2004 including Cosmo City, Eastern Cape – Duncan Village and Zanemvula, Free State – Grasslands, Gauteng – Cosmo City, Brickfields and Chief Albert Luthuli, KwaZulu-Natal – Emnambithi and Mount Moriah, Limpopo – Diteneng and Legae La Batho, Mpumalanga – Klarinet and Emsangweni / Nkanini, North West – Khutsong, Northern Cape – Lerato Park and Ouboks and Western Cape.

 

The show includes round table discussions where government officials engage with experts in different fields relating to housing and urban planning. Hosted by Eric Miyeni, it has seen some vigorous debates, and is a must see for any South African.
