Union (EU)
Ambassador
Michael
Lake
will
launch a
multi-million
rental
housing
promotion
partnership
programme
in
Pretoria
on
August
15,
2004.
Rental
housing
is
central
to the
Housing
Department
strategy
to
provide
alternative
and
cheap
accommodation
to those
who work
in urban
areas
who have
houses
and
families
in
villages
and
rural
areas
away
from
cities.
The
programme
will
also
serve as
a
vehicle
for
providing
housing
under
different
tenure
options
like co
operative
housing
and
installment
sale.
Central
to the
partnership
is
support
for
institutional
development
and
capacity
building
in the
housing
sector
to
promote
rental
housing
as a
form of
affordable
housing
to those
who stay
in
informal
settlements.

will
