INVITATION TO ACCOMPANY HOUSING MINISTER, DR LINDIWE SISULU AND ALL NINE MECs ON A FIELD TOUR TO THOKOZA WOMEN HOSTEL, JOE SLOVO INFORMAL SETTLEMENT AND MZOMUHLE PARKGATE ON JUNE 30, 2004

The National Minister of Housing, Dr Lindiwe Sisulu will meet with all housing MECS in Durban at the Royal Hotel on June 29 - 30 2004 to chart a way forward on how they can speed up delivery.

The first day of meeting will discuss a range of proposals and strategic documents on how the delivery of houses can be fast tracked and also ensure that all housing challenges are addressed.

On the second day, Members of the media are invited to join the Minister and the MECs for a field tour to three projects around Durban. The Minister and all the MECs will visit Thokoza womens Hostel, Joe Slovo informal settlement and a project currently under development at Mzomuhle Parkgate.

The field tour is part of an effort by the Minister and all MECs to understand housing challenges facing all provinces. The field tour also provides an opportunity for the Minister and MECs to interact with the public and exchange ideas on how to better improve housing delivery in their particular provinces.

The assembly point is the Royal Hotel in Durban at 8:40 am on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at the Royal Hotel.
