Housing Development Agency (HDA)

Background

The Housing Development Agency is a National Public Entity which started operations on April 1, 2009. Created by the Housing Development Agency Act 23 of 2008, the HDA is tasked with the acquisition, management and release of state and privately owned land for human settlements development, and with providing project delivery support services to enhance the capacity of municipalities and provinces to deliver integrated sustainable human settlements.

In line with its enabling legislation the Agency strives to be a public development agency that promotes sustainable communities through the provision of well located and appropriately planned land and buildings. This mission supports its vision to avail land for the development of sustainable human settlements and communities.
