98 year old Gogo receives her house

Ms Nonini "Mandungwana" Adonis will finally have a warm and safe place to call home tomorrow, when she receives a house from Minister for Human Settlements, Nomaindiya Mfeketo, on Women’s Day.

Ms Adonis (98) has been staying in an old dilapidated two bedroom house since 2004. She lives with her four (4) grandchildren and they only survive on her pension grant. She suffers from severe arthritis that has rendered her wheelchair bound. Ms Adonis’ plight was highlighted during a visit by the then Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa to the area on 28 July 2016, during the campaign for local government elections. It was then that a decision was taken to renovate her house.

The National Department of Human Settlements together with the Province have completed refurbishing the house with full furniture and ready for handover.
