Minister of Human Settlements Mmamoloko Kubayi and Deputy Minister Pam Tshwete will, on 17 and 18 May 2022 join MEC for Human Settlements in Mpumalanga Speedy Mashilo, for a visit to eMalahleni and Steve Tshwete Local Municipalities, as part of a government-wide build up programme towards the District Development Model (DDM) Presidential Imbizo. The Imbizo will take place in Carolina on the 20 May 2022.

The visit will include a meeting between all three spheres of government to assess progress in dealing with, amongst others, asbestos, emergency housing and mud houses. They will also convene a community engagement where about 400 title deeds will be handed over to the qualifying beneficiaries of the Siyanqoba Integrated Human Settlements project.

The build-up programme will also comprise of a visit to several other projects in the District Municipality, by the delegation including the Executive Mayor of Nkangala District Municipality Cllr Leah Mabuza, Executive Mayor of eMalahleni Local Municipality Cllr Conny Nkalitshana and Executive Mayor of the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, Cllr Petros Masilela.
