HUMAN SETTLEMENTS MINISTER NOMAINDIYA MFEKETO TO HOST WOMEN INDABA AT BUFFALO CITY MUNICIPALITY IN THE EASTERN CAPE

WOMEN contractors from across the country will converge in Buffalo City Municipality on Thursday to take stock of progress in fulfilling the Department of Human Settlements target of making sure that 30 percent of its R33 billion budget goes to designated groups.

The Department and National Treasury have recently made sure that this condition is made clear in the Human Settlements Development Grant Framework of the Annual Division of Revenue Act and is now audited by the Auditor-General.

The Women in Human Settlements Indaba, to be addressed by Human Settlements Minister Nomaindiya Mfeketo and to be attended by all MECs, is also aimed at identifying bottlenecks preventing provinces from achieving this target.

Another objective is to develop a clearly defined sector strategy and plan to realise the 30 percent target and to develop structured support for small and medium sized women owned entities.

Details of the Indaba are as follows:

Date   :  Thursday, 30 August 2018

Venue:   East London ICC

Time   :   08:30
