Human Settlements Minister Tokyo Sexwale will launch Tau Village -- an inner city Social Housing project – in Pretoria this week.
The building was once used for sex trafficking and drug abuse, but has been redeveloped as part of the Tshwane Municipality’s inner city renewal project.
Government has spent more than R30 million on the redevelopment and the new building consists of 81 family units, 20 units for vulnerable girls between the ages of 11-18, including abused children, children affected by sex work and victims of human trafficking. It will also have units for the elderly, commercial space and other amenities.
