Human Settlements Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi and Deputy Minister Pam Tshwete will on Thursday 18th May 2023, visit the Garden Route District Municipality in the Western Cape, to assess progress made on the provision sustainable Human Settlements.

The Ministerial delegation will hand over title deeds to Qolweni housing beneficiaries including the elderly, conduct oversight inspections at the Concordia Bungalow in the Knysna Municipality and further provide a progress report to communities on land availability for human settlements development. They will also visit the Temporary Residential Units that were built for the Wolwedans Housing Project in Mosselbay.

The visit forms part of the 2023/2024 Budget Vote activities and the upcoming Presidential District Development Model (DDM) Imbizo, scheduled for Friday 19 May 2023 in Paarl, Western Cape. The Imbizo is aimed at assessing service delivery through the implementation and enables integrated and responsive planning, implementation, and budgeting across all spheres of government.

The Ministerial delegation - including the Executive Mayors of the Garden Route District, Bitou, Knysna, and Mossel Bay Local Municipalities -will also launch a satellite office for Community Schemes Ombud Services (CSOS), agency of the Department of Human Settlements responsible for regulating the conduct of parties within community schemes.
