The Minister of Human Settlements, Lindiwe Sisulu will on Monday, 20 October 2014 handover three show houses as part of the department’s programme to build almost 6000 houses by 2017 for all qualifying military veterans.

Two weeks ago Sisulu launched the programme to house these veterans at a total cost of R1billion in all nine provinces.

The three houses are as a result of a partnership between the department, City of Johannesburg, Gauteng Provincial Department of Human Settlements Department and the following private sector companies:

  • CalgroM3 through the donation of the stands the houses are build
  • First National Bank R200 000 for furnishing of the houses
  • KansaiPlascon who donated paint for the houses and lastly
  • Sunflower Energy who donated solar energy geysers.

“It is our intention to clear the backlog of all Military Veterans who seek houses and shelter in less than three years, we will be launching projects in all nine provinces, we want to build them decent houses to restore their dignity and to honour their contribution to our freedom, this is a national priority” said Minister Sisulu.
