Human Settlements Minister Connie September will mark World Habitat Day by joining workers in the completion of a 272-unit social housing project in Durban.
World Habitat Day, under UN Habitat, is marked globally every 1st Monday of October as a drive to ensure that people have adequate shelter. Themed ‘Shelter-For-All” the day resonates with what the South African Government and the Department of Human Settlements always strive to achieve.
“It is therefore important to mark this day by providing shelter to people,” says Minister September.
The Minister will be accompanied by the MEC of Human Settlements in KwaZulu Natal, Ravi Pillay; the Mayor of EThekwini James Nxumalo and senior officials from the national and provincial departments of Human Settlements and related agencies.
