The all-inclusionary Special Lenasia Intervention Team (SPLIT) has finally endorsed and adopted the Lenasia Intervention Framework (LIF).
The document, which was adopted by all stakeholders present at a meeting held on the 18th January 2013, will guide the process started by Human Settlement Minister Tokyo Sexwale in resolving the housing crisis in Lenasia.
The adoption followed an extensive process of consultation with all the stakeholders that include the Department of Human Settlements, Gauteng Department of Local Government and Housing, the South African Human Rights Commission, the Legal Resource Centre, National Home Builders Regulatory Council, the City of Johannesburg, Lenasia community representatives’structures.
The document will now be signed off by all the SPLIT stakeholders next week and will be made public by the Minister, the MEC and the Chairperson of the SAHRC.
