Pretoria, 16 October 2013 - The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), Lechesa Tsenoli, and the Minister of Human Settlements (DHS), Connie September, will jointly host this first of its kind event in South Africa.
The IUDF process began as a response to President Jacob Zuma’s call for a collective action to manage the new wave of urbanisation in ways that also contribute to rural development.
The two departments are now hosting the first major national forum for this important debate on urban development and urbanisation. The purpose of the event is two-fold:
- To hold a dialogue with a broad spectrum of stakeholders on the Integrated Urban Development Framework for South Africa;
- To launch an ongoing IUDF consultative process with key stakeholders on the shape and desired form of our urban spaces.
