MINISTER KUBAYI TO ASSESS HUMAN SETTLEMENTS DELIVERY IN LIMPOPO

The Minister of Human Settlements, Mmamoloko Kubayi, will this week take the sixth of her Ministerial visit to Limpopo on 07 and 08 October 2021, where she will amongst others, receive a briefing from the Limpopo Department of Human Settlements on the progress to achieve its housing delivery target for 2021/2022 financial year.

The Minister is also expected to be appraised on areas that require her interventions, such as blocked and delayed housing projects, which have led to the slow delivery of houses in the province.

Over the past few weeks, the Minister has been to five provinces, namely KwaZulu Natal, Gauteng, Eastern Cape, Free State and Northern Cape. What has come up at these recent visits is an urgency to accelerate housing delivery, while ensuring that contractors deliver quality work, on time and within the set budget.

During the visit, Minister Kubayi is expected to handover housing units, title deeds as well as do site inspections at different housing projects - including serviced sites for human settlements development and Financed Linked Individual Subsidy Programme (FLISP). The Limpopo Provincial Department has since 1994 delivered over 200 000 housing opportunities. These include housing units and serviced sites.

Minister Kubayi will be accompanied by, amongst others, the Deputy Minister of Human Settlements Pam Tshwete, and Limpopo MEC of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Basikopo Makamu.
