The Minister of Human Settlements, Mmamoloko Kubayi, and Deputy Minister Pam Tshwete, together with KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Human Settlements and Public Works, Sipho Nkosi, will on Wednesday, 28 June 2023, hand over 360 homes to qualifying beneficiaries at the Kanku Road Housing Project in Isipingo.

Kanku Road Project is a Greenfield Project located in Ward 90 in eThekwini, established to benefit the remaining families of Isipingo Transitional Emergency Accommodation (TEA) that were relocated from various sites due to Kwazulu-Natal natural disasters amongst others. The eThekwini Municipality has already relocated approximately 300 families out of 700 to formalized housing developments within the Municipality.

In March this year, Minister Kubayi made an undertaking to the households at Isipingo Transitional Emergency Accommodation that she was going to return to the area to hand over the completed project.

The Minister, Deputy Minister, and KZN MEC for Human Settlements will also hand over housing units to the elderly and destitute women at Mhlungwini area, in Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality, Uthukela District and further visit the Amajuba District Municipality.

The activities to be undertaken will precede the District Development Model (DDM) Presidential Imbizo scheduled for Friday, 30 June 2023 in, Uthukela Municipality District, KwaZulu Natal.
