MINISTER SISULU TO CONDUCT PROGRESS ASSESSMENT IN DUNCAN VILLAGE
The Minister of Human Settlements Water & Sanitation, Lindiwe Sisulu will visit the Duncan Village Priority Project in East London to assess progress on this project aimed at changing the face of this historically significant informal settlement in Mdantsane, Buffalo City Local Municipality in the Eastern Cape.
The project, to be implemented in a phased approach will see the relocation and construction of houses for more than 20 000 households currently residing in informal dwellings in and around Duncan Village.
As part of her visit to the project, Minister Sisulu is expected to be accompanied by Deputy Minister Pam Tshwete, Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane, the Eastern Cape MEC for Human Settlements Nonceba Kontsiwe, Executive Mayor of Buffalo City Municipality Cllr Xola Pakati and the Housing Development Agency will engage community members at the Duncan Village Temporary Residential Units established as part of the project Redevelopment Plan.
