Minister Sisulu to hand over houses to military veterans and title deeds to Savanah City housing beneficiaries

The Minister of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation Lindiwe Sisulu will on Sunday, 13 September 2020, hand over houses to Military Veterans and issue title deeds to the beneficiaries of the fully subsidized government houses at Savanah City in Midvaal.

Savanah City is a greenfield project, that was launched in 2015, aimed at accommodating communities from the informal settlements, backyard dwellers and other communities within Midvaal Local Municipality, Emfuleni Local Municipality and the City of Johannesburg. To date this mixed typologies project has delivered over 4000 housing units which include Breaking New Ground (BNG/RDP, Financed Linked Individual Subsidy (FLISP) and bonded houses.

Minister Sisulu, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Thabang Makwetla, Gauteng MEC of Human Settlements, Urban Planning and COGTA, Lebohang Maile and local Mayors will also hand-over the Savanah City Reservoir to the Midvaal Local Municipality.

“Our visit is all encompassing from human settlements to ensuring that the community has sufficient water reserves. This is one of the projects that bears testament to the work this government has done in creating new human settlements and restoring dignity to marginalised people in our country. This is our good story, “said Minister Sisulu.
