Minister Sisulu mourns the passing of MEC Kegakilwe

It is with a sense of deep sadness that we have received the news of the untimely passing of Gordon Kegakilwe, the MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs in the North West Province.

Not only has this pandemic robbed us of a colleague, but it has robbed South Africa and the people of North West in particular of a true servant of the people and a great leader.

MEC Kegakilwe was responsible for one of the toughest portfolios in North West and served in it with distinction. Whether it was expediting the title deeds programme or giving reassurance to communities who needed it, MEC Kegakilwe worked tirelessly on his mandate.

He was a valued member of the Human Settlements MINMEC and contributed immensely in advancing housing delivery in distressed communities.

On behalf of all the MECs of human settlements and the sector we send our deepest condolences to the family, friends and people of North West Province; our prayers and thoughts are with you.
