Minister Sisulu to table Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation Budget Vote policy statement at the NCOP
The Minister of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation, Ms. Lindiwe Sisulu, will tomorrow, Thursday, 25 July 2019 table the budget vote policy statement for the departments outlining areas of priorities over the next few years.
During the past two weeks Minister Sisulu had presented the two Budget Vote speeches to the Members of the National Assembly.
The Minister is expected to touch on a number of areas affecting the Provinces and municipalities in the provision of decent housing for the indigent as well as water and decent sanitation. Minister is also likely to emphasize in her message that municipalities and communities must look after the infrastructure, the eradication of the bucket toilet system must be accelerated and partnership with all stakeholders is central in dealing with the housing backlog.
Delivering the Water and Sanitation Budget Vote last week, Minister Sisulu, among other things, focused on stabilizing the department, addressing the departmental finances, reviewing of procurement processes and revitalization of the construction unit as well as reviewing of the blocked projects while on Human Settlements she focused mainly on more transparency in the allocation of houses, clearing of the title deeds backlog, transformation of the township economy through human settlements projects, and expropriation of land particularly in urban areas for human settlements purposes.
The NCOP Budget Vote debate will be attended by MECs of Human Settlements and Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs.
The Minister will be accompanied by the Deputy Ministers of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation, Mrs. Pamela Tshwete and Mr. David Mahlobo.
The NCOP debate will take place at the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) in Parliament, Cape Town on Thursday, 25 July 2019 at 14h00.
