DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SETTLEMENTS REFUTES CLAIMS OF INTERNAL PURGES
The Department of Human Settlements firmly rejects recent allegations suggesting that senior officials are being systematically purged from the department. These claims are baseless, unfounded, misleading, and appear to be a deliberate attempt to undermine the integrity of the department’s ongoing efforts to improve governance and service delivery.
We remain fully committed to transparency, accountability, and consequence management, particularly in addressing issues of poor performance and corruption.
Disciplinary actions taken and that will be taken against certain individuals are based on verified misconduct and not political motivations.
Furthermore, our department is not a law unto itself. It operates within the Labour Relations Act. It upholds the right of all employees to raise their grievances through a structured and impartial process. Accordingly, all employees may lodge complaints concerning certain acts by an employer that adversely affect them.
It is worth highlighting that none of the senior managers in the department have approached the Labour Relations Desk to lodge a grievance against the employer. Thus, our register has no record of a grievance lodged by any of its senior members.
We appeal to the public to rely on verified information from official sources and not be swayed by faceless and sensational individuals who seek to bring the institution into disrepute.
We will not be defocused on our mandate to deliver dignified housing and sustainable human settlements for all deserving and qualifying South Africans.
