DEPUTY MINISTER MAHAMBEHLALA TO VISIT KHAYELITSHA TO PROVIDE RELIEF SUPPORT TO FIRE VICTIMSThe
Deputy Minister of Human Settlements, Tandi Mahambehlala, accompanied by the Gift of the Givers, will tomorrow, 20 October 2025, visit Ward 91 in Khayelitsha, Western Cape, to provide immediate relief support to households affected by fire.
The reports indicate that 52 structures were destroyed, resulting in just over 300 people displaced and without shelter. The recent incident is in addition to others which have been reported in several areas in the City of Cape Town.
As part of the emergency interventions by the Department of Human Settlements, affected households are assisted with materials to rebuild their homes, temporary emergency accommodation or are relocated to alternative sites if the site that had been used to build houses or structures is not suitable for human habitation.
