Human Settlements Deputy Minister, Tandi Mahambehlala, to support and participate in the back-to-school programme of government as the country enters the new academic year, will visit Njeza Senior Secondary School (SSS) and Cafuntweni Senior Secondary School (SSS) in Mnquma Local Municipality, Eastern Cape and handover sanitary towels to fight against period poverty, ensuring no girl child is left behind. 
 

The Deputy Minister’s visit to the schools also serves as a platform to motivate and encourage learners to be committed, to persevere and work hard, especially the Matric Class of 2026 whilst appreciating the role played by educators, SGB, parents and the surrounding communities for the critical role they play in supporting the learners.
 

Following her visit and engagements with the learners, Deputy Minister Mahambehlala will proceed to Tutura and Thekofihla villages in Mnquma Local Municipality to handover, together with the Department of Land Reform and Rural Development, the Provincial Department of Human Settlements and the Municipality, two houses build with Innovative Building Technology (IBT) to elderly women as part of the department ongoing efforts to respond to and provide disaster victims with quality safe housing.
