MINISTER SIMELANE TO DELIVER A KEYNOTE ADDRESS AT THE SECOND RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY SUMMIT

 The Minister of Human Settlements, Thembi Simelane, will tomorrow, Thursday, 26 March 2026, deliver the keynote address at the Second Local Government Residential Property Summit in Sandton.
 

The summit, hosted by the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), aims to provide a platform for dialogue between local government and private sector role players in the property development sector, with a particular focus on affordable housing. It seeks to explore innovative public–private partnerships that can strengthen capacity for effective housing delivery.
 

In her address, the Minister will reflect on the Human Settlements White Paper on Local Government and its commitment to deepening partnerships with the private sector. She will also highlight key areas such as the role of women in construction, the promotion of alternative and innovative building technologies, and outcomes from the recently held Innovative Building Technology (IBT) Summit.
 

The summit is expected to draw approximately 300 participants, including representatives from local government, property developers, financial institutions, researchers, property practitioners, and professional bodies in the built environment.
 

Dignitaries expected to attend include Cllr Dada Morero, Executive Mayor, City of Johannesburg, Cllr Bheke Stofile SALGA President, Prof. Francois Viruly, University of Cape Town, Ms Mahadi Buthelezi, CEO RB Properties.
