As part of the Freedom Month celebration, the Minister of Human Settlements, Thembi Simelane,  together with Mpumalanga MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements & Traditional Affairs (COGHSTA), Speedy Mashilo, and the Executive Mayor of Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality, Cllr Mtsweni Nomsa Sanny, will on Friday, 17 April 2026 handover over 1000 title deeds to rightful property owners at Siyabuswa, Mpumalanga.

To accelerate the issuing of title deeds on hand to the rightful owners, the Department of Human Settlements launched the Title Deeds Friday Campaign. Since the launch of the campaign in 2023, over 60 000 title deeds have been issued to government-subsidized housing beneficiaries. 

The Department of Human Settlements seeks to register and issue a minimum of 80 000 title deeds for the 2024-2029 Medium Term Development Plan (MTDP).
