LIMPOPO AND MPUMALANGA TO HOLD PUBLIC INFORMATION SESSIONS ON THE PIE AMENDMENT BILL

The Department of Human Settlements public information sessions on the Prevention of Illegal Eviction from and Unlawful Occupation of land (PIE) Amendment Bill will from 19-21 May 2026 be held in Mpumalanga and Limpopo respectively. This follows successful sessions held in KwaZulu Natal on 13 and 15 May 2026.

The bill seeks to amend the Prevention of Illegal Eviction from and Unlawful Occupation of Land Act of 1998(PIE Act). It is now 32 days since Minister of Human Settlements published the Bill in the Government Gazette for public comments. The public has until 16 June 2026 to submit their comments to PIE.AmendmentBill@dhs.gov.za.


Following tomorrow’s engagements, the consultations will continue in the respective Provinces on Wednesday and Thursday as per the below details

TOMORROW’S SESSIONS WILL TAKE PLACE AS FOLLOWS:

Mpumalanga: 

Venue: Ehlanzeni District Municipality, Valencia Community Hall, City of Mbombela

Limpopo:

Venue: Nirvana Community Hall, Polokwane

NOTE: In Mpumalanga, the sessions will proceed to Nkangala District Municipality on 20 May 2026 at City Hall, Middleburg and Gert Sibande District Municipality on 21 May 2026 at City Hall, Secunda. In Limpopo the session at Waterberg District Municipality will take place on 20 May 2026 at the Seleka Community Hall, Lephalale.
