MINISTER SIMELANE AND MEC MOTARA TO HAND OVER HOUSES TO QUALIFYING BENEFICIARIES IN EKURHULENI
The Minister of Human Settlements, Thembi Simelane, Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements Tasneem Motara and Executive Mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni, Alderman Nkosindiphile Xhakaza will tomorrow, 10 June 2026, hand over houses to the qualifying beneficiaries at Clayville Mega Project in the City of Ekurhuleni.
The Clayville Mega City Project is one of the mega housing development projects in Gauteng aimed at providing decent and affordable to shelter to the deserving beneficiaries. It is a mixed-land-use housing development expected to deliver 14,000 units on completion. These include fully subsidized housing (BNG), First Home Finance and social housing units.
Delivering her Budget Vote Speech, Minister Simelane, outlined her departmental targets for the current Financial Year, 2026/2027. Chief among these include the delivery of 39 058 housing units and 2878 social housing units, registration of 21 918 title deeds and completion of 25 186 serviced sites.
The Department of Human Settlements has been allocated over R15 billion to deliver on its targets with just over R4 billion of that amount allocated to the Gauteng Province.
