MINISTER SIMELANE LEADS THE EASTERN CAPE PERFORMANCE REVIEW SESSION ON THE DELIVERY OF SUSTAINABLE HUMAN SETTLEMENTS
The Minister of Human Settlements, Thembi Simelane, will lead the Eastern Cape Human
Settlements’ performance review aimed at addressing the challenges that are hampering the
delivery of houses. The session seeks to finding lasting solutions that would accelerate the
delivery of integrated and sustainable human settlements in the province.
The meeting, which will be attended by the MEC for Human Settlements, Siphokazi Lusithi,
and will take stock of human settlements delivery across the province. The Eastern Cape has
two metropolitan municipalities namely, Buffalo City and Nelson Mandela Bay, and six district
municipalities; namely Amathole, Chris Hani, OR Tambo, Alfred Nzo, Sarah Baartman, and
Joe Gqabi, that are representing thirty-one local municipalities.
The session will also assess how the province and its municipalities are implementing the
priorities of the seventh administration. These priorities are to offer housing opportunities and
prioritising the destitute, vulnerable groups, military veterans and people affected by GBVF.
The meeting will also deliberate on the established partnerships and collaborations with
strategic partners in mobilising human settlements investments and accelerating the
registration and issuing of title deeds to their rightful homeowners.
