MINISTER SIMELANE AND MEC MASHILO TO HANDOVER TITLE DEEDS AND CONDUCT PROJECT SIYAHLOLA

The Minister of Human Settlements, Thembi Simelane, together with the MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Speed Mashilo, will on Friday, 19 June 2026 handover title deeds to the housing beneficiaries at Tekwane South, City of Mbombela.

The title deeds handover is part of a nationwide Title Deeds Friday Campaign aimed at accelerating the registration and issuing of title deeds to ensure security of tenure. 
The Department of Human Settlements has set a target of 21 918 title deeds for the current financial year, 2026/2027 with Mpumalanga expected to deliver 2500 title deeds.

The Minister, MEC, and Mayors will also conduct an in-loco inspection at Sonheuwel Community Residential Units (CRU) housing Project where 168 units are being built, with 108 units already completed. 

The project will benefit low-income people and households earning between R800 and R3 500 per month, who are not able to enter the formal private rental and social housing market.
 

The handover of title deeds and the CRU in-loco inspection will be preceded by the Minister’s meeting with the MECs of Human Settlements from nine provinces (MINMEC), on Thursday 18 June 2026 in the City of Mbombela.
