In response to the housing needs in the country, while addressing the apartheid spatial planning, the Minister of Human Settlements Mmamoloko Kubayi will this Saturday, 09 December 2023, officially launch the Goodwood Station Social Housing Project in Cape Town expected to benefit 1055 families.

Minister Kubayi, together with MEC of Infrastructure Tertius Simmers and City of Cape Town Executive Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis, will welcome 331 first tenants of the completed units and assess the status of phase 2 of the project, expected to be completed next year.

The Goodwood Station Social Housing is built on well-located land on the northern side of the railway line alongside Voortrekker Road, which enables easy access to key transportation routes, essential services and places the residents close to the workplace. This government-subsidized housing project provides, like many others including the now fully tenanted Maitland Social Housing Project launched by Minister Kubayi in Cape Town in May, provide rental opportunities to beneficiaries with a monthly household income ranging from R1 850 to R22 000. The Ministerial delegation will conclude the day’s activities with a community engagement.
